Patient Focused Device Design for High Payload Therapies

Abstract:
High dose inhaled delivery has historically used inhalers that were originally designed for conventional low dose formulations. Consequently, unique formulation or device modifications are required to achieve the required lung delivered dose. But these high payload therapies are sub-optimal for patients, often requiring long treatment durations, complex patient instructions and device interactions, or poor tolerability. Patient focused systems will allow significant improvements in therapy and several approaches are proposed here.
