Abstract:
Blends of nanoleucine carrier particles and ciclesonide nanoparticles effectively bypass deposition in the upper respiratory tract, leading to improved delivery to the large and small airways and improved dose consistency (i.e., reduced variability associated with oropharyngeal filtering of particles, patient inspiratory flow profiles, and environmental effects). This enables significant reductions in inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) nominal dose by two- to four-fold depending on the formulation. The steroid sparing may reduce both local and systemic adverse events, potentially enabling improved patient adherence and reduced severe adverse events in pediatric asthma patients.
