Abstract:
Recent literature data from multiple groups show that in vivo mimicking in vitro approaches are valid to predict initial total lung deposition, which has been a goal for many decades. It is now time to problematize the concept and start discussing under which circumstances initial total lung deposition may be a surrogate for pulmonary availability and thus of clinical interest. There also remain a number of important questions regarding the in vitro methodologies.
